all Python 3platformfunction
platform.system_alias()
system and machine
Translates a (system, release, version) triple into familiar marketing names, e.g. SunOS 5 becomes Solaris 2.
Syntax
system, release, version = platform.system_alias(system, release, version)
The function is pure: it queries nothing and only renames what you pass in, so its result is the same on any machine. For Linux, Windows and macOS it almost always returns the triple unchanged; the renaming targets old Unix systems. platform(aliased=True) uses it.
Examples
import platform
print(platform.system_alias('SunOS', '5.11', 'x')) # → ('Solaris', '2.11', 'x')
print(platform.system_alias('Linux', '6.8.0', '#1')) # → ('Linux', '6.8.0', '#1')
